Der rest der welt sollte doch noch eine weile warten denn in europa erschien das n64 erst offiziel am 1 märz 1997 zum preis von damals 399dm(erste preisreduktion auf 299dm nach 2monaten), wobei in europa deutlich mehr launchtitel wie turok oder etwa star wars erhältlich waren. da die importbarriere beim us bzw jap nintendo so einfach durchbrochen war entschied sich nintendo in europa einen anderen weg zu gehen. jedoch erschien gut zwei monate später der erste import adapter.
